Dear Mr. President;
I would like to say a little about our wadges and the high prices of every thing.
It is good that the government wants to help with higher min. wadges but it will not help no one as long as comps. are allowed to keep raising there prices as well.
President Nixon did the best thing for our country than any president has ever done and that was to put a price freeze on everyone.
As long as places like food stores, shopping centers, rent, auto sales and everyone else keeps raising there prices after the minum. wadge goes up then no one will ever get ahead except the rich. If the Gov. raises the wadges again then it would be to your best intrust to freeze high prices on all companies so that the poor can get out of the hole a little. I,m on SSI and 632.00 per month doesen,t hardly even pay my rent. Let alone buy food, clothes, truck ins. and laundry.
Please try to help the low income people and not the rich?
Sincerely
JCS
Welcome to the Oval Office Mr. President.
We the people, furnish, clean and maintain this House for you. I hope that you feel free to get down on your knees here, and seek counsel from the Father who can guide your spirit, mind and mouth, to be not a representative of yourself for the next four years, but the heart and soul of US. I had so much planned to write to you when I came upon Andy's invitation to write a letter, but I read so many of the others' letters first. They have said it all, and all I can do is pray that you take the time to read them too. I will pray for you each morning that you are in office. That is my promise and I intend to keep it. I pray you intend to keep yours as well.
Make us proud (not of you) but to be citizens of the United States of America.
Dear Mr. President,
I want to welcome you to the White House. I will pray for you as you make decisions everyday. I hope that you will allow Jesus to guide your life. Please talk to God and allow him to talk to you through his word and godly counsel. Help us to return to the foundation our country was built upon. Remember the Constitution and the Bill of Rights protect all Americans.
We need put schools back on track by teaching them the 3 R's and stop the indoctrination of our chidren.
Please return the checks and balances that were put into place by our forefathers.
The will of the people needs to be honored instead of a select few.
Please protect our unborn babies.
Sincerely,
Janice Guiterrez
Congratulations on being the new leader of this wonderful country. We are more than blessed to be Americans and you are our leader. As you know, leadership isn't easy. Your Leadership will be tested over and over again. When you look yourself in the mirror, know that you are the leader that we need. How can you do that? How can you look yourself in the eye day after day and month after month? Don't be self confident, be God Confident. Look to Him who created you. He will guide you if you open yourself to His Leadership. His leadership will not disappoint this country. Be Strong. Be the Leader we need. Good Luck and God Bless!
Dear Mr. President,
Why would anyone want your job?, but thanks be to God that someone does.
We have so many issues: Government over spending and over taxing, health care, alternative minimum tax, terrorist here and abroad, and dependence on foreign oil.
Good luck in taking care of these. I will Pray for you and your Family.

Dear Mr. President:
There is a book that I suggest you read prior to your first day in office: Jesus for President: Politics for Ordinary Radicals. It's by Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw. I also suggest it for those contributing these letters.
Somehow, slowly but surely, it seems that this country has strayed a bit from how our Lord Jesus wanted us to live. Jesus "Reader Digest-ed" the whole Torah down to two commands: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" and "Love your neighbor as yourself". Of course, he went on to let us in the parable of the Good Samaritan that actually our neighbor could be people we actually hated, not just people we had an easy time loving!
Somehow it seems we in this country have come to worship other idols (money, beauty, power, position) rather than worshiping God, and we care more about our own welfare, our own wealth, our own happiness and less about caring for those less fortunate in this country and in the world. We say "God Bless America" when we should be saying and praying "God Bless the World".
Anyway, I have found this book "Jesus for President" to be a very uncomfortable read, but in the end I find much hope in the message of Jesus. In your campaigning, you asked us to believe in YOUR hope. You told us the AMERICA is the "great light of the world". Well, as I re-read my Bible with new eyes, I read that JESUS is called the hope and the light, not a country and not a president (no offense, sir). And so I place my allegiance to Jesus, the slaughtered lamb and not a donkey and not an elephant.
Yes, you hold the most important position in this world, but not the Kingdom. We, as citizens of the Kingdom, then have to begin to live OUR lives differently than those living in allegiance to a different "leader". So, please read this book, and read the Bible and see if your presidency might be lived out a bit "upside down".
Mr. President,
If the Lord is All Knowing and All Loving than you have received this Leadership Role through the blessing of Christ. But if it was Free Will by way of a vote that has elected you President, then I pray that you are a true Christian and will listen to your heart and the people of our Great Nation. We are not a poor or reckless nation but a strong and prosperous one. Lead us into the next generation with pride, perseverance and honor.

Dear President,
I would like to see a president who is as interested in how a child lives, as much as the fact that they are simply born. Please give the poor people in this country a chance, at healthcare, at a college education, at affordable living. We rich can afford to pay a little more tax, as most of what we have is not because we simply worked hard, but also because we have just been born into priviledge. Not everyone has.
Please respect the sanctity of life, but not only in regards to abortion…but also the death penalty. Please end any form of torture that we have engaged in. Please talk to our friends, our neighbors and even our enemies. Please take seriously our need to properly steward the resources we have in the environment.
Please, please, please follow the example of Jesus Christ and give justice and a voice to those who have no chance to be heard.
In case you haven't noticed, this country is failing its children. In education, we are no longer on top. We are not even close! And every day it gets worse. We need a committee to go into EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY SCHOOL in this country to make sure the building itself is up to standard. *And while we're on it, we need to set HIGH standards for our country's schools!* Make sure that every class room and every teacher has the tools necessary to TEACH our youth. Have enough teacher's aids so that kids can be evaluated. And alternative learning environments for those who drown in learning in the standard setting. Not every child learns the same way. Some children who drop out would be able to learn better in situations that are considered unconventional to our classrooms right now. Make class sizes smaller. Every child has different strengths and weaknesses and they should be afforded the best help. And find a better approach than no child left behind. Some children need to have an extra year in a specific grade. Passing them on doesn't solve the real problem and some kids slip through the cracks. Just remember that these are the people who will be taking care of you and your loved ones when you all get old!
And lets talk about sex. Not just on TV and radio and in print, giving the youth of our country the wrong ideas. Lets have REAL sex education. I know that I would love a society where everyone waited until they were at least "ready" (Grown, with a good job and with a great support system) to have children to have sex if not waiting until marriage but thats just not happening. And that is proven with teen pregnancy rates and the rate of children belonging to child parents. You can use the money you normally spend on financial aid to young unwed parents and the money normally used for medicines and medical procedures due to sexually transmitted diseases on this preventative measure. Once you educate the youth on prevention (both on pregnancy and on STI's) , your numbers of STI's, STD's and teen pregnancy will lower enough that the government will not be in debt any worse from the new programs.
Along with talking about sex and how to prevent issues here in the states, lift the global gag rule. Allow the countries we help with financial aid to teach about safe sex practices instead of abstinence only programs. You'll have to send them less money for HIV medications if you teach them how to protect against infection.
I know these ideas are shocking to hear from a christian, but I am a christian who has seen the struggle of a single teen parent. Let the church teach about abstinence. They do an amazing job at what they do. But political leaders suck at it. Just check out the statistics.
And lastly, "attitude reflects leadership." If you expect this country to be moral and patriotic and most importantly to help one another, show us the way. If you want this country to respect the space we have, get out there and do it with us. Get your hands dirty by planting trees or building a play ground. And if you aren't quite sure how to get started, ask former presidents who have used their former presidency as a platform to get involved. I know they would be happy to help. They would probably have wanted the advice and help when they were in office! And in case more people don't say so. Thanks for wanting to lead our country!
Dear Mr. President,
Your life may be the only Bible some people will ever read. Every step you take, seek and follow Jesus and His teachings and you will serve your family, your country, your world and yourself well. He was a simple man of humble beginnings, placed as you were on this earth by a loving Father, and His truths will serve you well.
Despite any hardship you might experience, God will reward you far more richly than any political alliance you might ever covet or feel you need to thrive. In the moments when you doubt that, pray… pray some more… and then seek the counsel of someone who will pray alongside you. Take action with the courage and understanding that your prayers inspire.
May your life bring others to the haven that is God and restore God to a country who so desperately needs Him.
One nation under one God,
An American who cares and believes.
Dear Mr. President,
I know I have said I know what I would do that would fix the situation and I know how I would act as president. Even when I was a high school kid I wanted to actually have your job. After growing up I now realize I would not get voted for, but I would still like the job if I had the opportunity. Moving on, I would like to say I know that what I see as an American watching news, reading blogs, and forming my own opinions that I do not know what you know just from the very nature of your position. So I know I would say I would do things a certain way, I pray that you can seek counsel from God and your staff to do what is right not just what makes you popular. Now I know Andy Stanley said that and if you were going to read these letters his would be the first ones and you wouldn’t make it to this one. I also highly doubt that you will make the mature correct decision for the people. I just pray that you will. Now I know you will get into office with the first 90 days of your campaign planned out and it will be what rallied you in, in the end. You will then probably take office realize what you wanted to accomplish will not be as easy to do and you will “distract” us from the goal you laid out. I already am, ok with that. I am bouncing off the letter Chuck Colson of the Nixon administration said and ask you to start your day with a devotional and scripture. I totally agree with him, have your quiet time with the creator before coming out and ruling the “free world.” Though I sort of envy your job, I do not envy your time of taking office. There is a lot of things changing in this nation and you are going to be in one of the strangest times of office.
So I pray that you do seek God, and I pray that you are humble enough to REALLY put the needs of the American people before yours.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Hoover

The "One" Has Already Come
Mr. President,
Throughout the election season of 2008, I have heard so many people say "The One We Have Been Waiting For" is here, and it has not only discouraged me, but is has been perplexing. To see a person glorified and romanticized by the media and my fellow Americans, often times had me bewildered. Perhaps it is the "newest form" of being contemporary - to adore a person and blindly follow their ideas. Unfortunately in our world today we seek other things to satisfy the emptiness we have in our hearts and minds. It has been interesting to see people from all over our country ponder the thought; that a President, merely a man, could have a greater role in History, or in our lives, other than the "ONE" who gave HIS life for all of us.
As a Christian I know "THE ONE", has already come, and it was over two thousand and seven years ago. HE came into this world humbly, without fanfare or parades. There were not large crowds cheering His name as He was born in a city called Bethlehem. His name is Jesus and for me HE is, and always will be the only "ONE." Isaiah 9:6-7 say, 6-For unto us a child is born, to us a child is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Price of Peace. 7-Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
As you govern and lead our country it will feel as though you have the weight and burden of the world on your shoulders. Please do not despair. Your place at this time in history is just a small part of a larger picture. For God has a plan for America and the world. Please rely on Him continually. This time - is not really about you, or us, but it is about our Savior, He whom we should follow, and He whom we should look to. It takes courage to lead and govern and yet still possess an ability to keep your heart from lofty pride and arrogance. I understand that time changes, and most people embrace change. But often times with that change, we have to accept the way it impacts out culture and and the structure of respect for authority. We loose site of our commitment to eternal moral truths and the pattern of how we should live, in your case it is how you lead, and we forget the basis of truth. Is being progressive always positive or right? Is social and personal transformation always the way to go? Perhaps not, if it it about self-fulfillment. Possibilities of advancement in our world is often necessary, but my hope is that we as Christians will remember what we should build our foundation on, before we abandon the greatness of our country's past. I pray as Americans that we place our hope in God, and that we pray for you as our President.
1 John 4:4 says - You my dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
1790 - George Washington in a letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport said: "May the Father of all mercies scatter light, and not darkness, upon our paths, and make us in all our several vocations useful here, and in His own due time and way everlastingly happy."
Mr. President, I implore you to remember, that the One we have been waiting for - has already come before you.
Sincerely,
Terri Green
Congratulations…
You, your family, your running mate and their family have walked a very tough road to get to the place in which you stand today. We have elected you because we as Americans believe in you. At this point I ask you to walk in that confidence and both live and lead us with integrity, honor and authenticity. Do what you know is right and true…not what others want you to do. Realize, acknowledge and embrace the fact that we are a nation founded and built on core values and a core faith…protect and fight to preserve those.
Realize that our God has allowed you to be where you are today…please don't turn your back on Him.
Embrace the Constitution…don't re-interpret it.
Control government…don't expand it.
Lead us to financial and energy INDEPENDENCE quickly…don't allow us to be slaves to any other nation.
Empower small businesses for this is the core of our strength and ingenuity as a nation…don't handcuff us with more regulations, policies and taxes.
Accept and support the fact that not everyone wants to work and contribute to the strength of America…don't make the rest of us support them. If they don't like it here in The United States of America…may their last handout be the ticket to the socialist country of their choice.
Protect our nation, our people, our resources, our boarders.
Surround yourself with the wisest…not those who just want political influence.
Let Freedom Ring once again…
Dear Mr. President,
In a world of caos America still stands strong in God. We cannot forget we are a nation that was founded on the principles of God. Please don't allow the government to continue to take freedom from the American People while we fight to help other countries gain their freedom. America used to be a country of choice and now it seems that our choices continue to be reduced. Prayer should be allowed in schools, bibles should be books that are allowed to be read in schools. The bible is a history book of God. Those that choose not to pray don't have to, those that do should be able to freely. Other religions are aloud to have a separate room in schools for their prayer. Please stop taking the right to pray from Christians. Please remember that you are in the office to serve the people. Please seek God's guidance in every decision you make. Let's use the resources we have in our own country and not continue to send our money to other countries for oil and gas. Mr. President, protect our nation as if we were your own children. Please take this job to heart. Remember someone died for all of us to have our freedom. It all comes down to IN GOD WE TRUST…WILL YOU TRUST IN HIM TOO?
