7 Vote Act Like We Have One Party

Dear Mr. President,
I frequently talk with my colleagues and friends about what we want from our elected officials. Aside from the obvious traits of character and honesty and integrity, there is something we all, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians and Independents alike, want from you. We want you to do everything in your power to ACT like there is only one party…the American Party…when you consider legislation and make decisions.

We are all so tired of politicians that disrespect their colleagues across the aisle. We are fed up with party agendas that are designed as much to hurt your opponents, as they are to serve the people…ALL the people. Please try to act as though there was no benefit to be gained by one-upping those of another political persuasion. Try to act like you want to serve the best interests of all Americans, not just those that wear your favored shade of red or blue. Try wearing Red, White and Blue for a change. Try talking to ALL of your colleagues in search of solutions for the non-partisan problems we are all seeking. Try forgetting about your need to be re-elected. Try SERVING the people you begged for support from…instead of serving your party's platform and agenda.

If you can succeed at these politically unpopular, but essential tasks, you WILL be re-elected, by a landslide. This is what we need most from you.

Serve wisely, tell the truth, and abandon your political biases.

May God bless you as you conduct your challenging and difficult work.

I AGREE, IT IS SO SAD TO WATCH A CONFERENCE OR UNION ADDRESS OR WHATEVER AND WATCH HALF THE OOM CLAP AND THE OTHER HALF SIT THERE, OR HAVE SOUR LOOKS ON THEIR FACES, I ALWAYS THINK THEY ACT LIKE LITTLE KIDS WHEN THEY DO THIS.

Good letter but please remember, it's great to get along but not always to go along. Disagreement is what they do. Party alignment could lead to tyranny. Karl Marx new this and wrote about it in his "Communist Manifesto".

I agree with the above. Well written also. I would like to add that I think Americans feel that important decisions are made without our consent. They work for us, yet they do whatever they want. I think that Congress and The House should be controlled more by the American People. When it comes to benefits and retirement packages these guys have it made. I don't recall voting to make them rich and richer when they retire or are voted out. Who has a Pension Plan at their job anymore?? Not me, I have a 401K that is quickly dwindling, just in time to make me work until I die. When it comes to getting raises theycongress/Senate just vote yes for it. I would like to vote for their raises myself. I think "We the People" are being ignored by most of them; living in their Politician lifestyle. Give us the power to have input (voting) in a Senator's raise. Just like anyone else, he/she should be held accountable by their employer. They just don't seem to get that the average American is just sick and tired of nothing really happening that seems to be helping us in any way. Let us review their benefits package and cut out what someone is not entitled . If they represent us, let them live as we do. If the avaerage American is paying so much a week for insurance-make it the cost our Represpresntative must pay also. Why does our tax money have to pay for their benefits above and beyond what most Americans have to do to survive. Sure, they can afford to pay it and it won't hurt their pockets as much as it does ours, yet we can put that money to use somewhere to help Americans that need insurance. I'm sure it would save alot for a better cause. I feel we can talk until out faces are blue or red, but the fact is, they have no one keeping them accountable during their term. Once they are there, it becomes a fight between the Red and Blue. We (the American People) just sit back and shake our heads at the joke it's become. Our Country is headed downward really fast and I don't see anyone stepping up to do anything. All I see are alot of greedy people bailing out of their companies rich and richer, more people not being held accountable and I just can't believe it is tolerated by the "Lawmakers" Accountability Mr. President…that's what we want, "We The People".
